As precise as it is classic, the watch is powered by a Rolex cal. 1570 mechanism that powered many early models of the Submariner, Explorer, and GMT models. A superior mechanism, it offers a level of engineering and craftsmanship that is exceptional.
What really stands out on this watch is the striking blue dial. It looks great against the steel case and hands.
Here are a few of its features:
- Stainless steel Oyster case crafted from a single block of stainless steel. This process originally insured that watch was impervious to water to a depth of 100m.
- Striking original blue textured dial
- Officially certified chronometer movement
- Rolex Twinlock screw down crown
- Precision advancing "snap" date mechanism
- Acrylic crystal with 'cyclops' lens for easy reading of the date
It is fully original original down to the dial, crown, and Rolex Oyster "rivet" bracelet date stamped 1970. It presents in very pleasing condition. It blue dial is untouched and mint. The case and bracelet presents as scratch-free.
Our Master Watchmaker has just performed a complete overhaul which consisted of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components with new Rolex parts, reassembling and lubricating the movement, replacing all of the waterproofing seals with new Rolex gaskets, and extensive timing testing and regulation ($695 value).
For the finishing touch it has been meticulously detailed, making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
Note: A published example of this model can be found in Osvaldo Patrizzi's work Rolex, Collecting Wristwatches, 2001 Edition, Guido Mondani editor, Vol. 2, pg. 30.
